to for location, whether they are on a absolute position (the room) as in
on the left,
at the back of,
at the front of,
on the right of,
in the middle of,
or to a relative position (the girl) as in
to the left,
behind,
in front of,

On the other hand, you may find prepositions difficult to use when you've got to decide whether you write them, you don't or even both cases. Here's a good example:
